How WriteOff LLC handles your information on usewriteoff.com, on the waitlist, and in the WriteOff app.
Who we are
WriteOff LLC ("WriteOff", "we", "us") is a Kentucky limited liability company. We are building WriteOff, an app for tradespeople that keeps receipts, checks, mileage and hours in one place and shows an estimate of what you may owe in tax.
This policy covers our website at usewriteoff.com, our waitlist, and the WriteOff app once it is released. WriteOff is not out yet, so right now we collect only what the website and waitlist need.
What we collect today
- Waitlist. The email address you enter, the trade you choose, and a note of how you reached the form.
- Website requests. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, handles standard request data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you load, so it can serve and protect the site. Cloudflare Web Analytics also measures page loads and performance without using cookies. We do not run advertising cookies on this site.
- Your browser. If you change the tax rate on the page, your browser may remember that number on your device so it is still there next time. It does not leave your device.
- Fonts and scripts. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and animation code from jsDelivr. Those services receive your IP address and browser details when your browser asks for them.
What the app will collect
When the app is released, it will collect what you put into it:
- Your account email.
- Photos of receipts and checks that you upload, and the details read from them, such as vendor, date, amount and category.
- Expenses and income you enter, with notes and categories.
- Mileage trips, including start and end places and distance, if you use trip tracking.
- Hours worked and client names, if you log them.
- Your tax rate setting.
We will update this policy and tell you before the app collects anything new that is not listed here.
How we use it
- To email you when WriteOff opens and to send updates about the waitlist.
- To run the app: store your records, read your receipts, and calculate the estimates you ask for.
- To keep the service secure, fix problems and understand whether it works.
- To follow the law.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Who we share it with
We use service providers to run WriteOff, and they handle data for us under their own terms:
- Supabase for our database, accounts and file storage.
- Cloudflare for hosting, domain and email routing.
- Email providers we use to send you messages about the waitlist and your account.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect people or our rights, or as part of a sale or merger of the business. We would tell you if that changed who holds your information.
How long we keep it
We keep waitlist details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Every email we send will include a way to unsubscribe. App records stay in your account until you delete them or close the account, apart from backups that are removed on a regular cycle and anything we must keep by law.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time. You can also email luke@usewriteoff.com to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under local law, and we will handle reasonable requests promptly.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections to the website and access controls on our database. No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute protection.
Children
WriteOff is a business tool for adults. It is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change is significant we will also tell you by email.
